I was going to go with University of Phoenix, but I had people tell me that they scam you out of a lot of money.

IMHO, Univ. of Phoenix has a bad rep because they have been around a lot longer than other online Univ. and they were the first to shake up the traditional system. They may cost a bit more but they are regionally accredited, which is very important if you want to transfer at some point or continue your degree elsewhere. Also, if they have a local location near you, you can still take classes online but you have the local campus as a resource for tutoring, etc.

A lot of employers dislike degrees obtained from U of P, which is famous for being online, for profit, and not very good. If you must go to school online, it’d be better for your future career if you stick to schools that have solid reputations, and are well known for being offline – for being brick and mortar universities, not for being online or for profit. So avoid U of P, Strayer, Devry, ITT Tech, Walden, AIU, etc. Instead, look at the good quality online degrees offered by these excellent brick and mortar schools: UMass Amherst, U Maryland, Penn State U, Northeastern, Drexel, University of Denver, U Nebraska, Iowa State U, Colorado State U, and many others. In fact, start with your home state’s public university system, and also the community colleges, if you’d like an associates before the bachelors. A lot of them are offering degrees online now, and because you’re in-state, you may get a cheaper tuition rate.

There is nothing wrong with University of Phoenix. It is a great online school. My friend went there.
I did not want to go to an online school and that is why I am at the Univeristy of Redlands. I need face to face interaction.
I was turned off from University of Phoenix when the man called me right after my step-dad died in 2004, and he just went on and on and on about the school. (I didn’t speak up and say, “Call me later, my dad just passed”. I didn’t feel like talking to anyone).
Most people have a school in site and do research on it and then make the decision and are set. When my friend decided she wanted to go to UofP she said that the salesguy was talking to her like crazy and she just stopped him and said, “Dude, I’ve already decided that I want to go to UofP, now what do I need to do?”
If you did your research on UofP and if you like what they have to offer (online, that net-flex thing that have and the one night a week classes) then go there. They have plenty of campuses around.
the only thing you may need to worry about is moving from the state that you are in, since each state has its own laws. When my friend moved from California to Nevada, she had to take two extra classes for Nevada State law. Oh, it is also cheaper than Univerisity of Redlands. I’m paying about $572 per unit, I think UofP is about $50-$100 less.
Do not let anyone stear you of what you want. If you believe that the school is too highly priced, it is.

U of P is a diploma mill and a joke in the educational industry. I know employers that will discard a resume that lists that as your college. The basic guideline is to look for a college that has .edu and not .com in the address. This will get rid of a lot of the diploma mills so you can get a degree that people will respect. A lot of community colleges have online programs and they are much cheaper.

i looked at University of phoenix. but i saw soo many websites saying they’re scammers. they do charge alot of money.
Id say the best thing to do is do a online program at like your local community college. or any college in your state. it will be wayy cheaper and will have a better rep then phoenix

if you are going to do it full-time, then better do it at some real college.
